CRT Expectations – FGSC
Welcome to FGSC. Casual Relief Teachers (CRTs) play a vital role in maintaining learning continuity and student wellbeing at our school. Your professionalism, adaptability, and engagement are highly valued. To support you, your fellow CRTs, and our regular staff, please ensure you adhere to the following expectations:
- Lesson Planning and Delivery
- These plans are carefully designed to ensure continuity of learning and allow teachers to assess and report accurately on student progress.
- If a lesson plan is not available, Sharon will contact the relevant subject Learning Area Leader. In the meantime, you should be prepared to deliver appropriate and engaging learning activities independently.
- Maintain the learning focus and structure outlined in the provided plans. Only adapt content where necessary for time management or classroom needs.
- Use additional materials only if relevant and consistent with curriculum expectations and school values.
- Always actively supervise students, including during lessons, transitions, and breaks. It is never acceptable to leave students unsupervised, an inclusion aide cannot be responsible for supervision.
- When not explicitly teaching, circulate the room, engage with students, and support their learning. This may include when you are the support teacher in the room.
- Attend all assigned yard duty and supervision responsibilities. Wear a high-visibility vest or badge where required and maintain an active presence in your allocated area.
- Report any urgent or serious behavioural or safety concerns immediately to a member of the leadership team.
- Write a brief overview of the class in the teacher’s notes at the end of the lesson or day. Include:
- Progress made
- Any difficulties encountered
- Notable student behaviours (positive or concerning)
- Log student behaviour using Compass Chronicle.
- Please note: entries made in Compass are official school documentation and may be subpoenaed.
- Arrive punctually to allow time to review the day’s schedule and prepare.
- Present professionally, and model respectful, inclusive behaviour in all interactions.
- Respect student confidentiality and maintain professionalism when discussing student progress or behaviour.
